Pumpkins & Pillbugs Halloween Event at Wooster Campus, OSU

Our EGSA members attended the annual Pumpkins & Pillbugs Halloween Event on October 30 at The Ohio State University's Wooster Campus, and it was a huge success!

This event brings together entomology, botany, and Halloween fun for the local Ohio community and beyond! Visitors of all ages had the opportunity to enjoy a variety of hands-on activities and interactive experiences, including Halloween crafts, painting warty pumpkins, and meeting live bugs. Attendees also had the chance to learn more about ongoing student research and discoveries!

This year, we welcomed an incredible 450 attendees, making it another memorable event!

We always welcome active participation from our local communities and residents. Best of all, admission is FREE, and there are no age restrictions! Bring your family, friends, and kids for a fun-filled Halloween experience. And don't forget to wear your Halloween costumes to make the trick-or-treating even more exciting!

One of our EGSA students is introducing some fascinating bugs to visitors! And it's not just pillbugs—you'll have the opportunity to meet all kinds of interesting crawlies.

While you're visiting, don't forget to stop by the Bug Zoo, located on the first floor of the Wooster Science Building at the Wooster Campus. You can encounter a variety of fascinating arthropods, including some species you won't typically find in Ohio or even elsewhere in the United States!

A huge THANK YOU to all our EGSA members who volunteered their time and helped make this event run smoothly, as well as everyone who contributed to making this event such a success. We couldn't have done it without you! The event will be back next year, so be sure to save the date!
